The evening of Friday, June 12, with Debbie Russell and Daniel Howard on the Las Vegas Strip: The super-fun and nostalgic The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet concert at BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
I know the signature and big hits (“Human” by The Human League, “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell and “Invisible” by Moyet, which sadly wasn’t performed), but what I unexpectedly received was a celebratory trip down memory lane that I didn’t know I needed at FBLV on a Friday night.

The Human League’s Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley, Soft Cell’s Marc Almond and his golden boots (music partner David Ball died last October) and Moyet, known as one half of Yazoo (Yaz in the U.S.) alongside Erasure’s Vince Clarke, were absolutely fabulous.
The three-hour concert featured fantastic electro-pop and matching visuals from all three headliners; fabulous throwback fashion with larger-than-life shoulders and pants and a lot of color; and a near-capacity audience who was enthusiastic through the riveting show’s end – a cover by The Human League of Giorgio Moroder’s Electric Dreams.”

I have a newfound love and adoration for Moyet beyond “Invisible” – her stage presence, style, cool dance moves and bluesy contralto voice belting out “Don’t Go,” “Situation,” “Only You” and more. Let’s have another Yaz reunion, please. Other familiar hits during the evening from Human League: “Fascination,” “Don’t You Want Me” and “Tell Me When.”
All three legendary artists received resounding applause and standing ovations from the audience, including from one fan front and center with a ginormous mohawk that read The Human League on one side and Soft Cell on the other side. How about Moyet on his forehead, Almond cracked.
Our thanks to Daniel Howard for his wonderful images from the photo pit at the concert last Friday night.
