Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City Launches Rail Bike Tours on Historic Railroad Corridor

Each tour covers approximately eight miles round-trip and lasts about 90 minutes. Guides travel with the group throughout the ride.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City, at 601 Yucca St. in Boulder City, has launched an outdoor attraction that offers visitors a hands-on way to explore Southern Nevada’s desert landscape and railroad history: rail bike tours.

The rail bike tours allow guests to ride pedal-powered rail bikes on historic railroad tracks stretching from Boulder City to Railroad Pass and back. The guided experience provides a unique perspective on the region’s transportation history while showcasing scenic desert views along the route.

“This experience allows visitors to physically travel along the same rail corridor that all materials for the construction of Boulder City and Hoover Dam were transported along,” said Christopher MacMahon, Ph.D., director of the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City. “It’s a hands-on way to connect with our state’s history while enjoying the quiet beauty of the desert.”

Each tour covers approximately eight miles round-trip and lasts about 90 minutes. Guides travel with the group throughout the ride, sharing insights into the area’s historic rail lines, the role railroads played in Southern Nevada’s development and answering participant questions.

Designed for adventure seekers, young adults and families, the tours combine outdoor recreation with historical interpretation in a setting that highlights Boulder City’s rail corridor. The rail bike tours operate on Monday, Thursday and Friday with departure times of 1, 3 and 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 3 and 6 p.m. Pricing is $90 per rail bike, with each bike accommodating as many as four riders.
