Downtown Las Vegas Turns Electric as DJ Diplo Headlines Feed the Block

Over the course of a 20-year career that began with his Philadelphia club night Hollertronix, Diplo has collaborated with the world’s biggest stars and toured the world.

Downtown Las Vegas was alive with rhythm and energy Monday night as Grammy-winning DJ and producer Diplo headlined Feed the Block, the city’s free block party series presented by Corner Bar Management and Wynn Nightlife. A crowd of 13,000 fans filled Fremont and Sixth Street for the open-air party dancing under the neon glow as Diplo delivered a set of electronic global beats.

Performing atop the Forest House Art Car, Diplo kept the crowd moving with a genre-blurring mix of originals and global favorites, including “Forever,” “Wish” and his latest release “Psychward,” showcasing the sound that has made him one of the world’s most in-demand DJs.

Known for his work with Major Lazer, Jack Ü and LSD, Diplo has defined a generation of dance music through collaborations with artists such as Beyoncé, Justin Bieber and Sia. Since launching in April, Feed the Block has become a buzzed-about live music experiences, drawing more than 14,000 for Major Lazer Soundsystem in September.

Monday night’s crowd embraced the Halloween spirit with partygoers showing off costumes that added to the night’s electric energy. Corner Bar’s venues, including We All Scream, Commonwealth, The Laundry Room, Cheapshot and Discopussy, served as the backdrop. More block parties will be announced soon.

Over the course of a 20-year career that began with his Philadelphia club night Hollertronix, Diplo has collaborated with the world’s biggest stars and toured the world. Born in Mississippi and raised in Florida, he continues to champion genres and artists through his labels Mad Decent and Higher Ground.

His projects include a publishing company and book, film and TV work. The 13-time Grammy nominee and three-time winner is a member of Major Lazer; one-third of LSD, the supergroup whose debut album has been streamed more than 3 billion times; and half of Jack Ü with Skrillex and Silk City with Mark Ronson, whose Grammy-winning “Electricity” with Dua Lipa topped global charts.
