Do you think Usher works out? And how did I get here?! (Check out my reel on Instagram and Facebook for the answers.)
The evening of Sunday, Sept. 6, with my longtime journalism colleague, mentor and friend John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Las Vegas Raiders, west of the Las Vegas Strip:
Usher + Chris Brown’s “R&B Tour.” Doors opened at 7 p.m., and they hit the stage at 8:45 p.m. after a DJ set. On the opening night on Saturday, Sept. 5, they reportedly started their concert at 9:30 p.m.
Our fantastic seats were at 100 Club Level. The crowd was rowdy and very excited for the show to begin. Kats says, “We have tickets for (Raiders owner) Mark Davis’s suite, too.” I’m sorry – what?!

I saw the VIP suite during an Allegiant Stadium Tour in May, but this time the exclusive floor and Davis’ suite included:
- Food vendors (sushi, desserts)
- Guests (“Sexxy the Show” at Mandalay Bay headliner Jennifer Romas among them)
- A bartender and open bar (I went to town on Coca-Cola Zero and water)
- Buffet (the short rib was incredible, and I devoured Rice Krispies treats and watermelon – and noshed the entire concert even thought I wasn’t hungry)
- A bathroom with great lighting
- Excellent views of the concert and more

Yes, I’m a wild man. LOL. Oh, and (especially) Usher and Chris Brown were on fire in their two-hour spectacular. Can you not start dancing when “Yeah” begins?
Usher + Chris Brown performed at Allegiant on Sept. 5, as well, and return on Sept. 18. Thank you, Kats, for the very VIP night in Las Vegas!
P.S. Ride share was a test in patience post-concert – about a 30-minute wait nearing midnight after two drivers canceled because they weren’t allowed into the lot because it was full. I’m told to request ride share while still in my seat inside Allegiant Stadium. Next time!
