Opening Night of Disney on Ice’s ‘Let’s Dance!’: Fans Overcome Bitter Cold Wind for Fire on Ice at UNLV

It’s heartwarming to hear young children scream in absolute delight, in between coughing during this flu season, for their favorites on the ice.

Disney on Ice brought the party to the Thomas & Mack Center with its grand opening night of “Let’s Dance!” at UNLV on Thursday, Jan. 8, and families and friends with children dressed to the Disney nines braved the bitter cold wind in Las Vegas for the technical, nostalgic and family fun of the all-ages production.

The “Let’s Dance!” guest list includes favorite Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy who have become DJs remixing Disney tunes into colorful stories in this all-new, state-of-the-art ice show.

The Disney on Ice production “Let’s Dance!” features fan-favorite stories including “Wish,” “Frozen 2,” “The Lion King,” “Lilo & Stitch.” “The Little Mermaid,” “Moana” and more taking the ice at the Thomas & Mack Center,” with six performances remaining through Sunday.

It’s heartwarming to hear young children scream in absolute delight, in between coughing during this flu season, for their favorites on the ice, Ariel, Elsa, Moana and Simba among them – Scar from “The Lion King” not so much. It’s as if they’re seeing Sabrina Carpenter or Benson Boone in concert!

Being at Disney on Ice again prompted a conversation among our party of four: Who is your favorite Disney character and why?

The answers: Peter Pan (“I want to be young forever”); Cinderella (“She’s the ultimate Disney princess”); Gaston from “Beauty & The Beast” (“He’s a hunk”); and Alice from “Alice in Wonderland (“She’s just my favorite Disney character”).

Opening night was Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Thomas & Mack at 7 p.m. Check out Disney on Ice’s remaining six performances and bundle up. Baby, it’s cold outside!
