New Dining: Dan Krohmer + Crystina ‘Mama’ Nguyen’s Vietnamese Collaboration at Durango Social Club

“I’ve always envisioned Durango Social Club as a place where hospitality professionals could create, collaborate and build something meaningful together.”

Durango Social Club, the Spring Valley restaurant from Chef/Owner Dan Krohmer, has announced a permanent culinary collaboration with Executive Chef Crystina “Mama” Nguyen, marking the next chapter for the restaurant with a menu centered on Vietnamese comfort food and a shared commitment to hospitality.

Since opening last August, Durango Social Club has evolved through a series of collaborations while remaining true to Krohmer’s vision of creating a welcoming neighborhood restaurant. With Nguyen now leading the kitchen as executive chef, the restaurant takes its permanent shape through approachable à la carte dining, Vietnamese comfort food and genuine hospitality.

Located at 3655 S. Durango Drive in the shopping center at Durango Drive and Twain Avenue, Durango Social Club is part of the same retail center as Krohmer’s acclaimed Other Mama. The intimate, 55-seat Durango Social Club welcomes reservations and walk-in guests, and signature menu items, daily specials and seasonal offerings ensures that there’s always something new to discover.

“I’ve always envisioned Durango Social Club as a place where hospitality professionals could create, collaborate and build something meaningful together,” said Krohmer. “Over the past year, the restaurant has continued to evolve, but the vision has always been the same. Now that Mama’s ‘home,’ it feels like we’ve found exactly what Durango Social Club was meant to become.”

Known to many Las Vegas diners for her time at the beloved District One Kitchen & Bar in Chinatown Las Vegas, Nguyen brings a deeply personal approach to Vietnamese cooking that balances tradition with her own perspective and years of culinary experience. Her philosophy centers on creating food that is comforting, approachable and meant to bring people together around the table.

That philosophy comes to life in the menu, from starters including Mama’s Gỏi with shredded chicken, shrimp, fried tofu, cabbage, herbs and crispy shallots served in a black sesame rice paper bowl and Chả Giò, crispy pork and shrimp spring rolls with herbs and house-made nước chấm, to rotating Bánh Bột Lọc, traditional tapioca dumplings wrapped in banana leaves with a seasonal filling.

Guests can look forward to a rotating Vietnamese-inspired soup and daily specials that reflect the kitchen’s creativity. Entrées include the Bánh Mì Fried Mortadella layered with crispy mortadella, pickled daikon and carrot, cilantro and roasted jalapeño aioli on a French baguette and Bò Né, sizzling marinated beef served with eggs, pâté, blistered tomato and baguette.

Also: the Surf & Turf Vermicelli Bowl with marinated ribeye, shrimp, herbs and roasted peanuts and Cơm Gà Roti, five-spice crispy chicken served with tomato jasmine rice, cucumber salad and Thai chili chimichurri. Dessert features the Vietnamese Egg Coffee Pie, created in collaboration with Pop & Pies, alongside traditional Vietnamese iced coffee.

“My goal has always been to cook food that makes people feel at home,” said Nguyen. “Vietnamese food is rooted in sharing, comfort and bringing people together around the table. Working alongside Dan gives us the opportunity to build something lasting, where guests know they’ll always find great food, genuine hospitality and something new to discover.”

The culinary experience is complemented by a mixology-forward cocktail program featuring signature creations such as the DSC Martini, Lychee Cooler and Chente, as well as a curated selection of wines by the glass and bottle, beer, zero-proof beverages and other seasonal offerings.

Durango Social Club is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m. at 3655 S. Durango Drive. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling (725) 205-9846 and visiting DurangoSocial.com. Follow @durangosocialclub
