Aloha, mochizadas! Dinner with my brother Charles Chareunsy at 5:30 p.m. the late afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 10: Zippy’s South Eastern (it’s technically Las Vegas, but it’s OK to say Henderson) on its second day of business at 9570 S. Eastern Ave. in, most recently, the former Mang Felix.

The newest Zippy’s in the Las Vegas Valley is big and spacious – it also occupies the previous business next door – and clean. Our busy server Chantell was nice, and she worked a large area of the restaurant serving the ultimate in Hawaiian specialties and comfort food.

Our early dinner was great – Vegas Pac (all of Hawaii’s favorites – fried chicken, Korean fried chicken, spam, frank (hot dog), chili of your choice, macaroni salad and three scoops of rice) and Wun Tun Min noodle soup (steamed won ton dumplings, uzumaki fish cake, pork char siu and noodles in a simple broth).

Plus the Hawaiian favorite passionfruit-flavored beverage lilikoi (with free refills) and a box of desserts (glazed mochizadas, ube Long Johns) to go. There were leftovers to take home from the two comforting and satisfying entrees alongside the box of sweet goodies.

There was no wait at the new Zippy’s since we used Waitlist, but we beat the dinner rush since we dined early. There is ample free parking as it shares a block with Hot N Juicy Crawfish. The app still isn’t quite working, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

We like the first Zippy’s in Southwest Las Vegas, we haven’t been to the second in Summerlin, and we’re so happy that this third Zippy’s is a lot closer to home.
