A Sneak Peek at ‘Hansel & Gretel’
What a way to start the week – sweet! I’m already looking forward to attending opening night of “Hansel & Gretel” on Friday night with Tommy Bassett, Lauren Hudman and Paige Brooks (if only Timothee Chalamet was joining us).
But a sneak peek on Monday morning at Audacy Studios in Las Vegas featuring NBT Artistic Director Roy Kaiser and New Zealand Royal Ballet Resident Choreographer Loughlan Prior and moderated by Mercedez Mertz of Mix 94.1 has added to the anticipation.
They discussed ballet, choreography, costumes, design, artistry and their inspirations – Kylie Minogue! Elphaba! – and I asked Prior about “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” (2013) starring Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Famke Janssen – “it’s so bad, it’s good.”
Also at the sneak peek: NBT’s Jenn Kratochwill and Michele Archer-Madole, Stacey Gualandi, Judy Thorburn and Stephen Thorburn, Bobbie Katz, NBT company dancers in costume, Donutique, We All Scream and more.
The family-friendly, season-finale, Las Vegas premiere and dark (not scary) “Hansel & Gretel” is at The Smith Center from May 15-24. And the new season was revealed – support the arts!
