Music legend Morrissey has quietly canceled his residency on the Las Vegas Strip just one week in advance – the latest in a string of cancellations from the English musician, singer-songwriter and former The Smiths frontman.
Morrissey, 67, was scheduled to perform four shows at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater on Friday, Aug. 14, Saturday, Aug. 15, Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 19, according to his website.
One week before the first show was scheduled in Las Vegas, on Friday, Aug. 7, entertainment outlet Consequence reported that the entire four-show residency had been canceled.
Morrissey has not publicly announced the cancellation, but a statement on the Ticketmaster page for all four Las Vegas shows reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”
Ticketmaster also states that anyone who purchased a ticket through the company will receive a refund to the original method of payment within two to three weeks for the performances.
The reason for the residency cancellation is not yet clear. An official for Morrissey did not immediately respond to People’s request for comment on Saturday, Aug. 8. People has also reached out to Wynn Las Vegas for comment.
