Booze, s’mores + bad decisions – was summer camp ever this fun?! Probably not since we were all younger than 21.
The late afternoon of Wednesday, July 8, with my brother Charles Chareunsy west of the Las Vegas Strip:
The no-kids-allowed pop-up Camp Palms, following in the footsteps of the super-fun Santa’s Saloon, in the former Shark by Bobby Flay and La Popular at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas through July 31.

At the also super-fun Camp Palms (and let’s be honest, we could all have a little more fun in our lives):
- Camp Director Larry (in short shorts)
- Camp Counselor Sandy (in short shorts and adorable in glasses)
- Camp Counselor Dan, filling in for Camp Counselor Brad? (in short shorts)
- Nurse Candy (in nurse’s uniform with short skirt)
- Ranger Rick (in ranger’s uniform in short shorts)
- Big Foot (hairy and no short shorts)
In the spotlight alongside the zany camp characters, the Totally Rad Food & Cocktails Menu:

- Starter Trail – chili, dips (a smoked fish dip is always a yes) and pickles
- Breakfast Base Camp – bacon (lots of it), deviled eggs (always a favorite) and Thai beef jerky (spicy, and the entire dish is a standout)
- Weiner Woods – fancy hot dogs (all delicious) served on a mini Weber
- Band Camp Bento Box – chicken wings, BBQ rib tips, fried truffle mac and cheese balls and potato salad (I mean who could go wrong with any of these items)
- Lil Camper Lunchtime – Chili Fritos, Chicken Tinga Cool Ranch Doritos and Spicy Chili Doritos served in the mini chip bags (so much fun!)
- Sweet Summit – options include Campfire Playmates with frozen treats (Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream, ice cream bars)
- Boozy Springs – cocktails including Big Foot’s Watermelon Smash, When Camp Gives You Lemons, Capri Fun and Red, White and Boom!, with some served in souvenir cups
A shoutout to our excellent servers Melissa, Jonathan and others at Camp Palms. We took home two very large bags of leftovers. Consider Camp Palms a success!
