‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Heads to Sphere Las Vegas in 2027 – Let’s Do the Time Warp Again

“Audiences should prepare to Time Warp back into the iconic madness” of the new production, according to a news release. It joins Sphere’s original immersive content.

From Greg Haas at KLAS:

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Are you ready for a Time Warp like you’ve never seen? Sphere Entertainment Co. has announced that it is developing a new show based on “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a 1975 cult classic.

As “The Wizard of Oz” reached new milestones – $400 million in ticket sales and more than 3 million total tickets sold since opening on Aug. 28, 2025 – a news release out of Burbank, Calif., brings news of the next big production expected to arrive in 2027.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Sphere” will use the theater’s advanced technologies to enhance the movie.

“Audiences should prepare to Time Warp back into the iconic madness” of the new production, according to the news release. It will join Sphere’s slate of original immersive content.

“Through Sphere Studios, we are building a slate of original experiences that push the boundaries of technology and storytelling for this new medium, while always keeping the audience at the center of the experience,” Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO, said.

“Since ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ premiered in 1975, it redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon. With Sphere, we have the opportunity to take that spirit of immersion to an entirely new level.”

Sphere recently turned a big corner, reporting $266 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2026, up 69% from the same period in 2025. “The Wizard of Oz” has delivered, selling tickets for three shows a day when other big events aren’t on stage. “Rocky Horror” is expected to do the same by giving an old classic a new look.

Sphere executives see the $2.3 billion venue as a tourism driver in Las Vegas, and they are working on two new projects, one in Abu Dhabi and the other at Baltimore’s National Harbor.
