Tao is the OG because it is one of the first – if not the first – nightclubs and vibe dining restaurants I experienced on the Las Vegas Strip shortly before moving to Las Vegas.

My birthday month (birthdays morph from one day into an entire month when the celebration is skipped for two years) continued on Sunday, March 22, with the second consecutive Sunday of bottomless mimosas.
(Spoiler alert: There was a third consecutive weekend, but that’s for another time.)
With my brother Charles Chareunsy at Tao Group Hospitality’s OG Tao Asian Bistro at The Venetian Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip: Tao’s excellent Sunday Endless Brunch that launched on Feb. 22, which is our baby sister Michell’s birthday.

Tao is the OG because it is one of the first – if not the first – nightclubs and vibe dining restaurants I experienced on the Las Vegas Strip shortly before moving to Las Vegas in 2008 from San Diego.
The beautifully presented Tao Sunday Endless Brunch offerings at stations for $65 (this barely covers an entree at dinner at Tao!) per person are terrific:
- Sushi, sashimi and seafood (oysters, shrimp and sashimi were standouts)
- Ramen (pork broth and the small bowls the perfect size) and dim sum (shumai and har gow)
- Bacon-forward breakfast items (bao buns – with bacon cooked to crispy perfection) and a carving station (salmon and sirloin were standouts)
- Desserts (chocolate fountain – yes, they’re from another era, but I can’t resist them, crepes, macarons and doughnuts – there were always people waiting at this station, but the lines were never long)
- And alongside an assortment of cocktails and other alcoholic drinks, I selected orange, pineapple and strawberry mimosas

There are a number of add-ons at Tao’s Sunday Endless Brunch, and we selected Peking duck (a large portion, boned and one of the best in town) and sea bass skewers.
Pro tip: As with any buffets and AYCE restaurants, leftovers cannot be taken home … but it’s worth asking about the add-ons.
Our server Jake was awesome – very attentive, friendly and helpful. The icing on Tao’s Sunday Endless Brunch: Three hours of free parking at The Venetian with a Nevada driver license.
The first Yelp review of Tao’s Sunday Endless Brunch gave it brunch 1/5. Ouch! Seriously? Charles and I give it a resounding 5/5, and we would gladly return.

P.S. If it’s still around, don’t forget about Tao Group Hospitality sister property Hakkasan at MGM Grand’s endless (aka AYCE) Sunday dim sum collaboration between Yauatcha and Hakkasan at $48 per person (this barely covers an entree at dinner at Hakkasan!). Charles and I dined there last July around the premiere, and it was fantastic. Food, glorious, food!
