“This is really an all-new property. … We’re so excited to finally have the work done on this property and introduce it to the community.”
Ahead of the grand-opening celebration for The All-New Suncoast Hotel & Casino in Summerlin | Northwest Las Vegas on Sept. 29, I had become a fan of the reimagined William B’s Steakhouse at Suncoast, as I worked across the street at Tivoli Village at the time starting in March 2024.
William B’s had a great chef in Chris Nicholson, dinner at the steakhouse was elevated and fantastic, the Happy Hour was top-notch (the seafood boil was outstanding), the ambiance was chic and modern, and the steakhouse was only the beginning of the renovations at The All-New Suncoast, which took about 2½ years to complete.
Mark Wahlberg promoted his Flecha Azul Tequila partnership at the VIP soirée on Sept. 29, and Boyd Gaming Vice President of Corporate Communications David Strow sat down and answered questions about The All-New Suncoast (and complimented yours truly on my cocktail choice – an extra dirty Bombay Sapphire martini, extra dirty, extra olives) – here are highlights:

Congratulations on The All-New Suncoast. When I worked at Tivoli Village a few years ago, I would dine at William B’s Steakhouse. Walking in here tonight, it’s like a brand new property.
That’s really what we tried to create here. This is really an all-new property. Suncoast has been around for 26 years now. But the neighborhood has grown. Las Vegas has grown. A lot of new people have moved into the market. We felt we needed to refresh the experience, enhance and modernize the experience for this community.
We have a lot of new competitors in this market, so we have to be at the top of our game and offer a modern, enhanced experience. And that’s really what we try to do here at Suncoast. We think what we’ve created here is truly a brand-new resort casino. And we’re so excited to finally have the work done on this property and introduce it to the community.
How long was the process? I remember being here in the last year or two, it was under construction everywhere. So it’s nice to see it done.
It’s been over two years. That’s because we did it in phases so that we could keep the casino open and operating while we did our work. It took time because we were renovating the entire property from top to bottom. Every part of this property has been touched by this renovation. Not just the casino floor – it’s new restaurants, new bars.
You put in things like a new bingo room, a new high-limit room, expanded meeting and convention space. So this was really a top-to-bottom renovation of this property. And it takes time to do quality, right? This is a quality product that we think can compete with anything else in this market. This is a property that can compete in Northwest Las Vegas.

Well, I think you’re speaking to my heart because as someone who lives here, I don’t always want to go to the Las Vegas Strip – and I love the Las Vegas Strip. I want a great experience, and I can have that supporting local, too.
Absolutely. That’s our customers, right? We’ve been serving this community for more than 25 years now. This is an investment in those customers who’ve been coming for all those years to offer them a new product. But it’s also an investment in customers who may have moved into this market over the years, and they never come to Suncoast because they viewed it as being an outdated property.
It wasn’t competitive with some of the other properties that have opened up over the years. This is an investment to get them to try the Suncoast. Visit for the first time, check it out. I promise this is an experience that is going to match anything else in this market.
We’re going to do very well. We’re going to track a lot of new customers here. I read all the statements. I really do, and we appreciate it. That’s how we’re going to get the word out is everybody talking about what we have to offer here, sharing what we have to offer here. That’s how we’re going to make this successful, how we’re going to get more people in the building.

I know you love everything with the reimagining. What is a highlight or favorite?
An early favorite of mine is William B’s Steakhouse. I love the steakhouse. The steakhouse is … honestly, it’s my favorite restaurant. It is a fantastic restaurant. The food’s great, but the service is fantastic, as well. It’s got everything. It’s got great service. It’s a great venue. It’s got great food. It’s a fantastic experience.
That’s what we’re trying to create here is that kind of heart and soul of the brand-new Suncoast, by creating this bright new experience. I looked at pictures today of The Suncoast from three years ago, and it was amazing to me how it has changed. It is a destination.
