“Save the Date” to Help Out, Dine Out, and This Year Take Out, to Support Southern Nevada’s Fabulous Restaurants & Only Food Bank
Three Square Food Bank’s highly anticipated annual culinary event, Las Vegas Restaurant Week, returns for its 14th installment June 7-18. The 12-day event will take a different approach this year, focused primarily on supporting the culinary community.
Three significant changes were made to Las Vegas Restaurant Week’s traditional format in an effort to drive business to the participating restaurants and make participation easier in these uncertain times.
- Three Square will not collect $4-$6 of every meal sold from participating restaurants, as it has in times past. Only $1 per cover comes back to Three Square.
- A new take-out component will be available, in addition to traditional dine-in options.
- Participating restaurants will have the option of creating the traditional three-course menu, a specialty menu and/or a take-out menu.
“Our culinary community has come together every year for more than a decade to support Three Square and the fight against hunger through Las Vegas Restaurant Week,” said Three Square Food Bank President and CEO Brian Burton. “Southern Nevada has been impacted tremendously by the health and economic fallout of COVID-19, especially our local restaurants. We hope to offer aid through the 12-day event while also benefitting our food-insecure neighbors. Though we must continue to take precautions and strictly adhere to state mandates and CDC guidelines, we encourage Las Vegans who are able to join us in supporting our food and beverage industry, demonstrating what a great city can do when good food is combined with kindness and generosity.”
Three Square encourages restaurant owners and chefs to “save the date” for Las Vegas Restaurant Week. Those interested should contact Three Square’s Will Edwards at 702.909.5519 or wedwards@threesquare.org.
Approximately two weeks before Las Vegas Restaurant Week begins, the mobile-friendly website, RestaurantWeekLV.org, will launch, providing a list of participating restaurants along with take-out and dine-in menus.
Last year, Three Square suspended Las Vegas Restaurant Week due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to focus its efforts on emergency food distribution. Southern Nevada continues to see record high levels of food insecurity. Nearly 440,000 community members don’t know where their next meal is coming from—that’s one in five of our neighbors. Additionally, one in three children is are now living in a food-insecure household.
About Three Square Food Bank
Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank and largest hunger relief organization, serving Las Vegas and all of Clark, Lincoln, Esmeralda and Nye counties. Since opening in 2007, Three Square has provided more than 385 million pounds of food to hundreds of thousands of people in need and earned a reputation as one of the most efficient and effective food banks in the country. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Three Square immediately implemented a disaster response plan to answer sudden school and business closures, drastic declines in retail food donations, social distancing limitations on volunteer efforts, reduced on-site staff support, and the need for low-contact food distributions. Within days, Three Square had increased food distribution by 250,000 meals a week and increased the capacity of its Call Center to refer Southern Nevadans to available food resources, social services, and unemployment benefits.
While Three Square’s COVID-19 relief efforts have superseded regular programs and operations for the foreseeable future, it is more committed than ever to its mission of providing wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. Three Square is a member of the Feeding America network of food banks.
