Active adventure experience lets kids feed, train and play with dinosaurs; and parents can join in on the fun, too!
Dinosaur Outpost, a hands-on interactive dinosaur experience, opens at Town Square in April. Just steps from the Town Square Children’s Park, kids will be able to play tug-of-war with Dusty the Protoceratops, use blaster cannons to launch Brussel Sprouts into the mouth of Rupert the Brontosaurus, and even ride on the back of Annie, a gentle Pachyrhinosoraus.
Located at 6569 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Suite 173, owner, Timothy Clothier, a Las Vegas dad and founder of show props and display design company, Illusion Projects, came up with the idea after bonding over dinosaurs with his young son. That experience got him thinking of the need for more kid-friendly attractions in Las Vegas.
“My son was fascinated with dinosaurs and that really brought us together as a family. I want to re-create that experience for others,” Clothier said. “This is not a museum. It’s an active, tactile, sensory experience where you put the smartphone down and play and interact with dinosaurs. At the end of the day, the goal is for your kids to be exhausted on the ride home.”
The Dinosaur Outpost experience begins by entering a time portal powered by kinetic energy. That energy is created by kids jumping up and down. Children then travel through various prehistoric scenes – a meadow, jungle, volcano, and others. They have their own safari-style research tent as a base while exploring and interacting with dinosaurs. A few of the amazing experiences include:
- Getting Chester the Dilophosaurus to jump for hot dog treats
- Playing “Operation” and extracting bones from a dinosaur skeleton
- Training Margo the Carnotaurus, a ferocious predator
- Feeding meatballs to raptors
- Experiencing tornadoes in prehistoric times and taking a ride around a bubbling volcano
Dinosaur Outpost will also be home to the Fossil Fuel Café and three party rooms for birthdays and private events.
