18th Annual ATHENA International Awards and WCCNV Legacy Foundation Scholarship Fundraiser “Achieving Your Dreams through Education”
The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada is honoring ATHENA Young Professional Leadership recipient this year, Wendi Schweigart, Founder of non-profit, Project Marilyn, Inc. at the 18th Annual ATHENA International Leadership Awards on October 22, 2021. The ceremony will be held at Lawry’s The Prime Rib with a VIP Champagne Reception sponsored by WCCNV Legacy Foundation Board of Directors, beginning at 11:15am, lunch and awards program will commence at 11:45am in the Great Room with extraordinary silent auction items also available online.
Project Marilyn provides feminine supplies to those in need with monthly bags containing tampons, pads and hygiene wipes to last thru their menstrual cycle. Since its inception in 2019, the non-profit has delivered more than 18,000 period bags and served more than 28,000 menstruators in southern Nevada, as well as partnered with shelters and agencies, such as Communities in Schools, Westcare, LVMPD, Care Complex, YMCA of southern Nevada, the Salvation Army and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

Our goal is to provide direct access and support for those individuals who need it most, says Wendi Schweigart, founder of Project Marilyn. “Our hope is that we will be able to help women have dignity with their period, and to be able to help #endperiodpoverty in Southern Nevada. PERIOD.”
Opening the 18th Annual Awards Laura Fairchild, Director of the all Volunteers, Master of Ceremonies for the 18th Annual Awards is John Huck, Emmy Award Winning News Anchor with FOX5 KVVU News and opening speaker June L. Beland, President and CEO of Women’s Chamber and Chair for ATHENA International Awards.
The ATHENA International Awards is the main award fundraising event of the year. All net proceeds benefit “At Risk” female high school students with scholarships for higher education and postsecondary education through the chamber’s WCCNV Legacy Foundation 501(c) (3) charity and distributed by The Public Education Foundation.
