It’s that time of year again! Downtown Las Vegas is gearing up for its annual St. Paddy’s Parade and Firefighter Games, proudly hosted by the Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN).
The parade promises a vibrant display of bagpipers, honor guard, and firefighters from all corners of the valley, adding a splash of green to the city streets.
Following the parade, the excitement continues on 3rd street in front of Hogs and Heifers with the thrilling Firefighter Showdown! Spectators can look forward to a series of entertaining challenges, including hose owling, wheelbarrow races, bucket brigades, hose or tire drags, and tug-of-war.
While these antics bring joy and laughter to the crowd, they also serve a noble purpose – raising crucial funds for the PFFN and providing essential support to firefighters in need.
Proceeds from the event contribute to various initiatives, including assistance for firefighters facing hardship, maintenance of PFFN’s memorial fire engine, and the upkeep of the fallen firefighter memorial in Carson City.
This solemn tribute honors the bravery and sacrifice of the 85 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. Additionally, the Firefighter Showdown offers a unique opportunity for firefighters to bond with the community, unwind from their demanding roles, and showcase their exceptional skills.
The event is open to the public and family-friendly.
