The iconic destination will commemorate the holiday weekend with an “El Grito” celebration, folkloric dancers, mariachi bands, and a special gift with purchase
Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort® Las Vegas will become the ultimate destination for Mexican Independence Day weekend as guests are invited to revel in the celebratory festivities all weekend long. From heartfelt Ranchera songs serenaded by Latin headliner and Las Vegas local Eli Zamora in the romantic setting of St. Mark’s Square, to vibrant and colorful folkloric dancing and mariachi performances, to an exclusive gift with purchase, an “El Grito” celebration, and more, The Shoppes will throw a spectacular Mexican Independence Day fiesta that the entire family will enjoy.
To kick-start the extra-long holiday weekend, Grand Canal Shoppes will host an “El Grito” celebration, a Mexican tradition that dates back centuries, in St. Mark’s Square on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 11 p.m. This is an annual celebration that takes place the night before the holiday and will include performances by Mariachi De Mexico, a six-piece local mariachi band, for guests to enjoy. Additional performances by Mariachi De Mexico will take place September 16 – 19 at 3 p.m. in St. Mark’s Square.
Headlining Mexican Independence Day weekend at The Shoppes is Eli Zamora, singer, songwriter, and pianist best known for his time on the Mexican and American versions of “The Voice.” Zamora will captivate audiences with traditional Ranchera songs, which are famous for being heartfelt ballads that speak about Mexican culture and the important impact music has on the people. As a special treat for fans, Zamora will sing his famed rendition of Juan Gabriel’s song titled “Ya Lo Se Que Tu Te Vas” that elevated his stardom after performing it during his blind audition on “The Voice.” Zamora will sing alongside a rhythmic live mariachi band and audiences can catch his exclusive complimentary headlining shows September 16 – 19 at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in St. Mark’s Square.
Adding even more vibrance to the lively weekend is Mexico Vivo, a colorful and traditional local folkloric dance group who celebrates the dance of diversity. Renowned for their talent, creativity, and wide range of repertoire, they were founded to preserve and promote the rich traditional heritage of Mexican and Latin-American folk dancing here in Las Vegas. The energetic group will perform alongside Mariachi De Mexico at 3 p.m. and Zamora at 4 p.m. September 16 – 19 in St. Mark’s Square.
