With Veteran’s Day just around the corner, it’s a reminder that our nation’s heroes should not be forgotten, especially when it comes to their physical and mental well-being.
For the medical team at Las Vegas Integrative Medicine, the dedication to serving veterans, along with their other patients, is evident year-round.
“With limited resources at the VA Hospital, we have had quite several veterans come through our doors. Most of them are here for pain management,” said Dr. Yoojin Lee-Sedera, the Medical Director and Co-Founder of Las Vegas Integrative Medicine. “Many of the vets appreciate what we do here because it helps them to stay away from prescription medications or minimize the need for medications so they can perform their daily activities”. “This is a significant help for people as well as veterans suffering from pain considering the current epidemic of opioid addiction which often starts with pain medication”.
Las Vegas Integrative Medicine is the only natural medicine practice in Nevada that offers Naturopathic medicine as well as acupuncture. The clinic first opened at 3030 South Jones Boulevard Unit 107, Las Vegas NV 89146.
In the past month, the clinic has opened its second location at 2940 South Jones Boulevard, Suite E which is around the corner from the original location. A grand opening & ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for November 4, 2023 from 11:30AM – 2PM. Dignitaries and special guests will be in attendance.
“We are excited to be opening up this new facility, especially with our patients from different backgrounds throughout Southern Nevada,” said Dr. Lee-Sedera. “But we are especially proud to be serving many of our local veterans who are benefiting from our holistic healthcare practice combined with functional medicine. With 3 new providers coming on board recently, we are now able to help more patients on their journeys to health and wellness”.
Dr. Lee-Sedera says her work is driven by her own experience and family history of digestive diseases. As a licensed Oriental medical doctor in the state of Nevada, Dr. Lee-Sedera said throughout her career, she has seen numerous men and women who were experiencing pain, digestive issues, stress and other ailments that did not improve with conventional medicine alone. Because of this, she is passionate about offering her patients alternative yet natural solutions tailored to suit their unique needs and meet their long-term goals.
Dr. Rachel Ong, an Associate Doctor at Las Vegas Integrative, also cited her family’s health journey for leading her into this career in natural health care. Dr. Ong said when her grandmother became ill with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma several years back, she witnessed how limiting conventional medical resources can be for patients with chronic illnesses. When her grandmother passed away, Dr. Ong decided to leave behind her world in accounting and finance to embrace a new life in the Healthcare industry
“I believe in creating a partnership with my patients and encouraging them to take responsibility and promote their health, wherever they are in their health journey,” said Dr. Ong. “I was trained in both primary care and other natural alternative therapists so that each treatment plan can be tailored to each person’s individual needs and lifestyles”.
Some of the therapies Dr. Lee-Sedera and Dr. Ong incorporate into her practice include nutritional counseling, food allergy testing, botanical medicine, nature cure, homeotherapy, applied kinesiology and acupuncture.
Every physician at Las Vegas Integrative Medicine specializes in acupuncture as a natural and drug-free way to manage pain. In addition, the clinic offers other treatments with similar benefits, like cupping, moxibustion and Gua Sha therapy. Dr Lee-Sedera and her team believe that lifestyle medicine is the key to health and longevity.
“A big part of our practice is about educating patients and educating the public too because I want people to know that there’s a lot more that they can do to take care of their health. And at the end of the day, it should be your decision on what to do for your health. But we want that decision to be an informed one and that’s what we are here to do and help guide them in that direction”.
