4 Tips and Tricks for Driving Safely In Vegas

Are you moving to the entertainment capital of the world? There is a lot to look forward to, but the traffic isn’t one of them. Driving in Vegas is difficult, especially if you are new to the city.

Unfortunately, road accidents are common as well. Here are a few tips and tricks for driving safely in Vegas.

  1. Learn Vegas Traffic Laws

Traffic laws vary depending on your state. Familiarizing yourself with Vegas traffic laws keeps you safe when driving. Brush up on the specifics of Nevada and find out what it takes to drive safely in the state. This is the surest way to avoid hefty citations.

For example, blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 would merit a DUI charge. Officers in Vegas are very vigilant when it comes to detecting drunk drivers.

You may need to take field sobriety tests more often than you imagine. If you exceed the speed limit, you are unlikely to escape a speeding ticket.

  1. Check Out Downtown Parking Options In Advance

Parking in downtown Vegas is a nightmare. You’re likely to be frustrated, distracted, and more prone to accidents. If you plan on going downtown, consider your parking options ahead of time. Certain hotels and casinos have valet or long-term parking. Call them ahead of time and plan your visit.

  1. Stay Focused

Driving requires your full attention. It is a thinking task that requires you to consider a variety of things at the same time. You must pay attention to your speed, the road conditions, traffic laws, road markings, and more. If you aren’t focused, especially on Vegas roads, it is easy to get into an accident.

Avoid distractions like eating and talking on the phone, as they reduce your ability to detect potential problems and react on time.

  1. Know the Best Car Rentals

While driving isn’t your only option, it is one of the best options, especially if you are new to Vegas. It is comfortable and allows you to stick to your schedule. While there are many well-priced rental companies, they are different.

Do some research before getting a rental car. Ensure that the rental car company you choose is reliable. Their cars should go through rigorous inspections before being rented. You don’t want to deal with a faulty car in the middle of the road.

What to Do if You’re Involved in a Car Accident

Have you been in a car accident in Vegas? While it can be a confusing and frustrating time, you must know what to do. Taking the right steps minimizes further injury and increases your likelihood of getting the compensation you deserve. Here are the most critical steps to take right after a car accident.

Check Yourself for Injuries

Check to ensure that you don’t have any injuries. If you do, call 911 and ask for help. If injured people are in your car, administer first aid and avoid moving them until emergency personnel arrive.

Get to Safety

Move to a sidewalk or the side of the road if you can. This way, your car stays safe, and you can avoid creating road hazards. If you can’t move, stay in the same position until help arrives.

Exchange Information

If you and your passengers are uninjured, communicate with the other driver and exchange information. Here are a few of the essential details to exchange:

  •  The color, model, and type of vehicle
  • Your insurance companies and policies numbers
  • The time and location of your accident
  • Your license plate numbers

Contact a Lawyer

The best car accident lawyers know how to handle car accident cases effectively. They will help you get details of your accident and pursue compensation. Hiring a lawyer is essential even when you don’t think the accident was severe. A good lawyer represents your best interests and advises you accordingly.

While driving in Vegas can be difficult, there are a few ways to ensure you stay safe. Take advantage of the above tips and stay safe in Vegas.
