Maintain a safe landing space for fireworks and keep people clear of it.

Soak duds in water and don’t dispose of spent shells in combustible containers like plastic garbage pails.

Give children undivided attention if allowing them to use sparklers.

Use a BBQ utility butane lighter and purchase fireworks from reputable vendors. 

Make sure the adult in charge of the fireworks is sober.

Pay attention to strong winds and direction.

Don’t light firecrackers in your hand and throw them.

Be courteous. If hosting a party, talk to your neighbors first. Keep pets and the elderly in mind. They may be startled by loud noises.
