On Thursday, November 17, Chefs for Kids and ARIA Resort & Casino were proud to team up to serve up smiles and a free healthy breakfast to more than 400 students and teachers at Matt Kelly ES.
The special meal was part of the Chefs for Kids’ Cookin’ Up Breakfast initiative.
As the event culinary sponsor, ARIA Resort & Casino provided and prepared the food. Chefs then served the meal alongside volunteers from ACF Chefs Las Vegas. Breakfast items included veggie frittatas with cheese, scrambled eggs, hash brown patties, chicken apple sausage, and blueberry pancakes.
Students also received chef hats and surprise bonus-to-go backs containing grape and cheddar cheese cups, crackers, fruit and vegetable pouches, and a specialty toy.
“MGM Resorts International properties always go above and beyond for our students. From making a chocolate sculpture of the school mascot, serving up crepes and parfaits, to providing these great to-go bags, we’re grateful for their enthusiasm in supporting our program,” said Hekili Apao, Chefs for Kids Chairman.
The Cookin’ Up Breakfast program is partially underwritten by MGM Resorts International for 2022. Several MGM Resorts properties have committed to sponsoring an individual school breakfast in the 2022-2023 school year including MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
In total, 13 Title I schools will receive breakfast during the 2022/23 school year. Chefs for Kids is seeking two additional culinary partners to complete the schedule (January 5 and March 9).
