Go True Blue Year-Long Campaign to Honor Local Law Enforcement
More than 60 community and business leaders, along with 40 law enforcement officers, teed off at2nd Annual Go True Blue Golf Tournament on Tuesday, April 19 at Southern Highlands Golf Club. The annual tournament, hosted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation, included an LVMPD officer in every foursome. The tournament raised more than $100,000 for LVMPD Foundation programs and initiatives that support local law enforcement and help to fund programs that strengthen relationships between the community and LVMPD.
The Go True Blue Golf Tournament is part of the LVMPD Foundation’s Go True Blue campaign, a year-long drive to honor hardworking local officers and law enforcement professionals throughout Southern Nevada. The campaign is a way for community members to show their support for LVMPD and the strong partnership that exists and continues to grow between LVMPD officers, businesses, and residents of Las Vegas and Clark County.
In January, the LVMPD Foundation kicked off its annual Go True Blue campaign to recognize and support LVMPD officers who, day-in and day-out, work hard to keep our community safe. The yearly kickoff was in conjunction with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD).
“While LEAD is officially just one calendar day, we promote the Go True Blue campaign throughout the entire year to show gratitude to our officers for all they do,” says Tom Kovach, Executive Director, LVMPD Foundation. “The Go True Blue Golf Tournament is another opportunity for organizations and individuals to show support by hitting the links alongside law enforcement officers.”
