Each year, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Las Vegas Strip for the New Year’s Eve holiday.
The Las Vegas Monorail will be the only motorized method of transportation operating along the Las Vegas Strip for New Year’s Eve. It will operate continuously from 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31 through New Year’s Day (Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022), until 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, for a total of 44 straight hours.
Locals can purchase $1 single-ride tickets at customer service booths located at every station (except the Las Vegas Convention Center) from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 31 with proof of Nevada I.D. For out-of-town guests, regularly priced tickets are $5 for a single ride and unlimited-ride passes are available for 24 hours, two days, three days and more beginning at $13.
Visitors planning to stay through the weekend can save $3 on a 3-day unlimited ride pass by purchasing tickets in advance now through Dec. 30. The specially-priced tickets can be purchased here. Electronically-purchased tickets may be directly downloaded to riders’ mobile devices for added convenience. More information on this option is available at www.lvmonorail.com/mobile-ticketing.
“Just like Las Vegas’ world-famous New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Monorail’s nonstop service during the Strip’s closure is an annual tradition that we are excited to bring back this year,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). “It’s our pleasure to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective transit along the Strip during the destination’s most exciting weekend of the year.”
This year will mark the return of “America’s Party,” the annual fireworks and entertainment show produced by Las Vegas Events, the LVCVA, and Fireworks by Grucci. Revelers from all over the world travel to the destination to ring in the new year on the famous Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic.
As customers make plans to ride the system, the same requirements that exist throughout the destination during New Year’s Eve will also apply on the Monorail:
- Face masks are required at all times throughout the system
- Customers are encouraged to maintain social distancing whenever possible
- Hand sanitizer will be available at every Monorail station
- No strollers, backpacks or glass bottles will be allowed
The Monorail has five stations along the Las Vegas Strip: MGM Grand; Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/The LINQ and SAHARA Las Vegas. Two more stations are located at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Westgate Resort & Casino. LVCVA.com
