Kick Off the Holiday Season with Tamales!
Who doesn’t love tamales? This year’s Tamale & Mariachi Festival will be a celebration of family, culture and holiday traditions Saturday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Held on the Centennial Plaza at The Historic Fifth Street School at 401 S. Fourth St., the festival offers the community an abundance of tamale varieties from all over Latin America. Festival admission is free and open to the public. A variety of vendors will sell refreshments.
Festival goers will enjoy live mariachi music, folklorico dance, Mexican antojitos, and a host of artisan vendors. Kick off the holiday season with great authentic tamales by some of Las Vegas’ best cooks. Watch tamales being made and then take the opportunity to make your own tamale at the community tamalada! With arts and crafts activities available for the kids, there will be much for the whole family to enjoy.
The three-time Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos will bring their solid-gold Mexican sound to entertain during the festival. Acclaimed by audiences at the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and other major U.S. venues, their skillfully arranged versions of classic mariachi tunes, blended with regional styles of traditional music, are a delight to ears nationwide.
