Bring the Family to Enjoy Live Music Performances, Kids’ Activities, Exhibitors & Food
The city of Las Vegas invites the community to a free outdoor Caribbean Heritage Festival Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, 720 Twin Lakes Drive.
Bring your family to enjoy the traditions, music and flavors of the Caribbean.
Performances will include steel drums, reggae, traditional Cuban music, Bahamian processionals and more.
There will be free activities for children, face painting, community exhibitors, visual artists and artisan booths, as well. Jamaican/Latin Caribbean food trucks and an alcohol vendor will offer refreshments for sale.
Bring low-back chairs and blankets to be more comfortable on the lawn seating. Pets will not be permitted inside the festival plaza.
Longtime KUNV 91.5 broadcaster and reggae artist Stan Rankin T will be master of ceremonies. Performing groups will include:
- 56 Hope Road – the ultimate Bob Marley Experience, led by reggae musician Najja Hashim
- Vegas Island Players (VIP)
- Sounds and Rhythms of Cuba
- Stan Rankin T
This event is presented by the city of Las Vegas with Mario Lorne and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture of The Bahamas.
