This Wednesday, brothers and sisters living in separate foster care homes will get one last summer hurrah together before going back to school.
As part of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s Sibling Preservation Program and Cowabunga Bay Cares Program, Cowabunga Bay Water Park will host youth from the local charity for a day of fun on the water park’s attractions.
About 50 siblings who live in separate foster care homes will catch up on their lives and create happy memories.
“Brothers and sisters that live in different foster care homes haven’t had as many opportunities to see each other this last year due to the pandemic,” said St. Jude’s Ranch for Children Chief Executive Officer Christina Vela. “So, we are thankful that Cowabunga Bay, once again, has invited our children to get together in such a fun environment to be kids together before school starts.”
The sibling groups are comprised of children, teens and young adults that have been separated in the community foster care system with few mandated chances to see each other throughout the year. This event will bring them together to spend critical time together reconnecting and creating memories all while having fun in the sun.
“I am so excited to welcome back St Jude’s Ranch for the fourth time since we began hosting this inspirational event,” said Shane Huish, Owner of Cowabunga Bay Waterpark. “I am thrilled on behalf of Cowabunga Bay to provide this fun opportunity to reunite families for a fun day at the park and we look forward to seeing their happy faces every season. We are pleased to help this important mission and contribute back all summer with our continued Cowabunga Cares program to benefit causes that impact Southern Nevada.”
St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s Sibling Preservation Program helps preserve the critical sibling bond for brothers and sisters separated in foster care by providing opportunities for them to spend time together and build on their relationship throughout the year.
