Spencer Fane Partner Attorney Ayesha Mehdi, JD, MHSA, has been appointed by the American Bar Association (ABA) to chair its Health Law Section’s Fraud and Compliance interest group and vice chair Diversity and Inclusion.
In these leadership roles, Mehdi will drive efforts to enhance diversity, promote justice and create growth opportunities for ABA members. Mehdi previously served as Vice Chair for the Fraud and Compliance group.
The ABA’s Health Law Section represents clients in all segments of the health care industry, including physicians, hospitals and other institutional providers, teaching and research organizations, managed care organizations and other third-party payors, pharmaceutical companies and device manufacturers.
The ABA’s Diversity and Inclusion Center promotes collaboration, coordination and communication to advance the ABA’s goal to eliminate bias and enhance diversity and inclusion throughout the Association, legal profession and justice system.

As a corporate and health care attorney, Ayesha Mehdi works closely with physicians, health care professionals and various health care and closely held businesses in a wide range of corporate, transactional, regulatory and licensure matters. As a partner in the Spencer Fane health care and mergers and acquisitions groups, she counsels clients on health care compliance (such as the federal Stark law, Anti-kickback Statute, HIPAA and HITECH Act) as well through small health care business deals to multimillion dollar transactions involving acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, restructurings, leveraged buyouts and joint ventures.

Ayesha received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with honors in Finance from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration (MI), and her Master’s in Health Services Administration, as well as her Juris Doctorate degree, from the University of Kansas, where she serves on the law school’s Board of Governors.
