Corner Bar Management will officially open Lucky Day, a 3,000-square-foot tequila and mezcal bar stuffed to the brim with iconography, color and an explosion of lights at 516 Fremont St., at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Located on Fremont East on the same block as Commonwealth, The Laundry Room, Park on Fremont and Joy of Hot Dog – all celebrated bars and restaurants by Corner Bar – Lucky Day offers an impressive selection of rare mezcals, small-batch tequilas and signature cocktails. Drinks are paired with housemade tortilla chips, salsa fresca and guacamole flights.
Conceptualized and designed by Corner Bar founder, Ryan Doherty, Lucky Day blends a cacophony of pesos, knick-knacks, discarded fortunes, eccentric art, stained glass windows and tattered memories with a canopy of 15,000 custom handmade programmable LED lights in all shapes and sizes. A living, breathing art installation, the lights were designed by innovative art production agency, Building 180, and created by renowned artist, Keegan Olton.
A never-ending fervor of Latin rhythms played by house DJs fuel an intimate dance floor, with cozy tables littered under the canopy of lights. The walls showcase a dozen pieces by Bob Dob, a Southern Californian artist known for paintings that celebrate the surf and skate punk rock culture.
Signature cocktails include the Chica Blanca, made with rum, elderflower, rose syrup, lime and egg white, priced at $12; the Jalisco Fashion, featuring Añejo tequila, black cinnamon tea syrup, blood orange liqueur and cassia bark bitters, priced at $14; and the Escorpion, prepared with mezcal, Hawaii chili-infused tequila, agave, sassafras bitters and muddled cherry, priced at $13.
Lucky Day is one of three new imaginative concepts that have been revealed by Corner Bar this year, which include Oddwood at AREA15 and DISCOPUSSY, also located in Fremont Street’s East Entertainment District. Corner Bar will unveil two new concepts, We All Scream and Cheapshot, in early 2021.
Lucky Day will be reservation only Wednesday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., with limited walk-up service available during those hours. Reservations can be made by texting 702-291-7599. Lucky Day will be in full adherence to government health and safety mandates set by the State of Nevada, which include full mask requirements for employees and guests, entry temperature checks and strict social distancing. The dance floor will open at a later date, in addition to extended hours.
