Indoor sports complex to provide recreational amenities through public-private partnership
The City of Henderson is thrilled to announce the upcoming state-of-the-art indoor sports complex in West Henderson. This project was presented and recommended for final approval at the July 2 City Council meeting.
The complex will be located behind Chicken N Pickle, currently being built at the southeast corner of St. Rose and Maryland Parkways. The planned 180,000 square-foot, two-level facility is expected to include:
- Basketball courts that can be converted for volleyball and pickleball
- Hybrid turf fields for sports like indoor soccer, box lacrosse, and indoor football
- Birthday party and community rooms
- Family entertainment options such as bowling, laser tag, arcade games, miniature golf, and a restaurant and bar
Through a public-private partnership with KemperSports, the City can offer additional recreational amenities to Henderson residents without imposing long-term financial burdens on taxpayers. Residents will receive a 20% discount on all amenities.
“We are proud to lead public-private partnerships that benefit our residents,” said Henderson City Manager and CEO Richard Derrick. “We are excited to see the successes of this indoor sports complex, just as we have with the America First Center and Lee’s Family Forum.”
The West Henderson indoor sports complex will also attract local and regional sports tournaments, supporting the City’s Economic Vitality strategic priority with:
- $1.5M annual tax revenue
- $39.1M total economic output annually
- $10.7M in wages and salaries
“We look forward to partnering with the City of Henderson to realize their innovative vision for a state-of-the-art sports complex,” said KemperSports senior vice president Steve Goris. “This complex will be a valuable community asset for local residents and a destination for youth sports families.”
The West Henderson indoor sports complex represents a $70-million investment funded by a private third-party partner and one-time sources, including a public infrastructure bond sale, the West Henderson Development Fund, and the City Municipal Facilities Fund.
