In April, The Underground speakeasy and distillery insideThe Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, will celebrate its third anniversary with live entertainment, moonshine tastings, drink specials and extended hours until midnight.
Some featured anniversary specials and programs will take place throughout the month, while others will be offered on specific dates for a limited time.
In addition to anniversary events, April will also kick off the weekly return of live music to The Underground, as well as the monthly Whiskey Club event and, toward the end of the month, inventive tequila and mezcal drink specials leading into Cinco de Mayo. ANNIVERSARY SPECIALS AT THE UNDERGROUND INCLUDE:
April Drink Special: Giggle Water
Date: Available throughout April.
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cost: $14
Description: This refreshing rendition of the classic Giggle Water cocktail is made with strawberry-pink peppercorn-infused vodka, basil, Lillet Rose, lemon, Absinthe and topped with Champagne.
A-La-Carte Moonshine Tasting Flight
Date: Available throughout April.
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cost: $16
Description: When one moonshine is just not enough, a flight is just what the doctor (or bootlegger) ordered. Guests ordering the a-la-carte moonshine tasting flight receive the distillery’s four house-made moonshines including Signature Moonshine, Ginger Jake, Cinn-City and the newest Barrel-Aged Moonshine.
Anniversary Moonshine Cocktail “El Colibrí”
Date: Available April 17 to 23
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cost: $10
Description: Tropical flair meets all-American moonshine in this fun, fruity cocktail mixed with pineapple shrub, orange juice, Angostura bitters and the house-infused Ginger Jake Moonshine.
Liquor Legends: A Night of Moonshine Tasting and Storytelling
Date: Tuesday, April 20
Time: 8 p.m.
Cost: $30 per person
Description: This tasting explores four of the Museum’s house-distilled moonshine varieties, including popular infusions and an exclusive barrel-aged expression. Guests will enjoy a moonshine flight and select food options while a Mob Museum distillery presenter shares fascinating stories about bootleggers and reveals the history of moonshine in America beginning with the colonial era.

Description: The Shaun DeGraff band plays re-imagined jazz-influenced versions of modern popular songs. A true vintage jazz experience.

Description: Some savvy bootleggers were successful at making moonshine that pleased the palate. The Mob Museum’s house-distilled moonshine follows in this tradition, as authentic as it can safely get. Produced in a custom-made copper pot with 100 percent corn and bottled at 50 percent ABV.

Description: The Mob Museum’s recipe blends the warm sweetness of cinnamon with a pinch of cardamom to create an infusion featuring the flavors that have made cinnamon prized throughout human history.
Ginger Jake Moonshine

The Whiskey Club: Tasting with Woodford Reserve Distillery

Description: The Mob Museum hosts a specially-curated whiskey tasting each month in The Underground Prohibition history exhibition. Attendees are invited to enjoy the variety of flavors presented in Woodford Reserve whiskeys. Known for their artisanal process, Woodford Reserve’s small-batch straight whiskeys are handcrafted at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, which is designated as a National Historic Landmark. Tequila and Mezcal Tasting Flight

Tequila and mezcal are distilled from the agave plant, but their differing production methods and regional variations lead to vastly different flavor profiles. From smooth to smoky, earthy to oaky, experience the complexity with this flight of four spirits. The tasting includes Xicaru Reposado Mezcal, Siete Blanco, Espolon Reposado and Maestro Dobel Anejo.
Cadillac Margarita to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Description: The history of the margarita is hazy, but imbibers need not understand its origin story to appreciate its appeal. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, guests can enjoy a luxurious Cadillac Margarita made with Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier and lime juice.
