The Underground Announces Third Anniversary Celebrations, April Promotions

In April, The Underground speakeasy and distillery insideThe Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, will celebrate its third anniversary with live entertainment, moonshine tastings, drink specials and extended hours until midnight.

Some featured anniversary specials and programs will take place throughout the month, while others will be offered on specific dates for a limited time.

In addition to anniversary events, April will also kick off the weekly return of live music to The Underground, as well as the monthly Whiskey Club event and, toward the end of the month, inventive tequila and mezcal drink specials leading into Cinco de Mayo. The full roster of April events and special offers follows.

ANNIVERSARY SPECIALS AT THE UNDERGROUND INCLUDE:

April Drink Special: Giggle Water
Date: Available throughout April.
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. 
Cost: $14
Description: This refreshing rendition of the classic Giggle Water cocktail is made with strawberry-pink peppercorn-infused vodka, basil, Lillet Rose, lemon, Absinthe and topped with Champagne.

A-La-Carte Moonshine Tasting Flight
Date: Available throughout April.
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. 
Cost: $16
Description: When one moonshine is just not enough, a flight is just what the doctor (or bootlegger) ordered. Guests ordering the a-la-carte moonshine tasting flight receive the distillery’s four house-made moonshines including Signature Moonshine, Ginger Jake, Cinn-City and the newest Barrel-Aged Moonshine.

Anniversary Moonshine Cocktail “El Colibrí”
Date: Available April 17 to 23
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. 
Cost: $10
Description: Tropical flair meets all-American moonshine in this fun, fruity cocktail mixed with pineapple shrub, orange juice, Angostura bitters and the house-infused Ginger Jake Moonshine.

Liquor Legends: A Night of Moonshine Tasting and Storytelling
Date: Tuesday, April 20
Time: 8 p.m.
Cost: $30 per person
Description: This tasting explores four of the Museum’s house-distilled moonshine varieties, including popular infusions and an exclusive barrel-aged expression. Guests will enjoy a moonshine flight and select food options while a Mob Museum distillery presenter shares fascinating stories about bootleggers and reveals the history of moonshine in America beginning with the colonial era.

Live Entertainment
Date: Saturday, April 17
Time:  9 p.m. to midnight
Description: The Shaun DeGraff band plays re-imagined jazz-influenced versions of modern popular songs. A true vintage jazz experience.

Anniversary Day Discount
In addition to these anniversary events and specials, all guests visiting The Underground on Saturday, April 17 will receive 10 percent off all food and beverage items purchased in The Underground.

SOUVENIR ITEMS FEATURING THE UNDERGROUND:

Signature Moonshine
Cost: 750ml for $20.95, 375ml for $15.95 and 50ml for $6.95
Description: Some savvy bootleggers were successful at making moonshine that pleased the palate. The Mob Museum’s house-distilled moonshine follows in this tradition, as authentic as it can safely get. Produced in a custom-made copper pot with 100 percent corn and bottled at 50 percent ABV.

Cinn-City Moonshine
Cost: 750ml for $23.95, 375ml for $17.95 and 50ml for $7.95
Description: The Mob Museum’s recipe blends the warm sweetness of cinnamon with a pinch of cardamom to create an infusion featuring the flavors that have made cinnamon prized throughout human history.

Ginger Jake Moonshine
Cost: 750ml for $24.95, 375ml for $18.95 and 50ml for $7.95
Description: Ginger Jake Moonshine is inspired by an over-the-counter medication popular during Prohibition and known by its slang name “ginger jake.” With citrus notes and a gingery snap, the taste is a clear giveaway it’s too good to be good for you.

All moonshines are available in three sizes: 750ml, 375ml and 50ml. Must be 21 and over to purchase.

The Underground Shot Glass
Cost: $14.99
Description: Raise a glass to the past with this commemorative shot glass from The Mob Museum’s Prohibition exhibit, The Underground.

The Underground Pin
Cost: $3.99
Description: Show your love for The Underground anywhere you go with this one-of-a-kind pin. It’s the bee’s knees!

Souvenir Beer Growler

Description: Bring The Underground growler to the speakeasy to fill with any of their seasonal, house-brewed craft beers on tap. 

The Mob Museum Flask
Cost: $30
Description: Flasks have existed for centuries in one form or another but they skyrocketed to fame during Prohibition as manufacturers devised a range of methods to carry liquor undetected. This eight-ounce pewter pocket flask adorned with The Mob Museum name comes with a built in, collapsible shot cup.

Behind Bars: High Class Cocktails Inspired by Low Life Gangsters
Cost: $14.95
Description: Pairing notorious gangsters and mobsters from movies and television with signature cocktails, this pocket-sized collection of boozy recipes is so much fun, it’s criminal.

Description: Revel in the sounds of the Jazz Age once more with the long-awaited return of live music in The Underground speakeasy. Featuring a rotating roster of talented performing artists and presented in an atmosphere surrounded by Prohibition-era artifacts, The Underground offers an immersive 1920s-inspired experience like none other.

The Whiskey Club: Tasting with Woodford Reserve Distillery
Date: Wednesday, April 14
Time: 8 p.m.
Cost: This is a sold-out event. To be added to the waitlist or to learn about the next monthly Whiskey Club event to be held on May 12, please contact the Museum at (702) 229-2713 or sales@themobmuseum.org. Must be 21 years or older to participate.
Description:  The Mob Museum hosts a specially-curated whiskey tasting each month in The Underground Prohibition history exhibition. Attendees are invited to enjoy the variety of flavors presented in Woodford Reserve whiskeys. Known for their artisanal process, Woodford Reserve’s small-batch straight whiskeys are handcrafted at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, which is designated as a National Historic Landmark. Join a Brown-Forman brand ambassador and Museum representative for a memorable evening of sips and small bites.

Tequila and Mezcal Tasting Flight
Date: April 28 to May 31
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. 
Cost: $35
Description: Discover the flavors of Mexico’s national spirits. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, The Underground will offer a tequila and mezcal tasting flight available for a limited time. Tequila and mezcal are distilled from the agave plant, but their differing production methods and regional variations lead to vastly different flavor profiles. From smooth to smoky, earthy to oaky, experience the complexity with this flight of four spirits. The tasting includes Xicaru Reposado Mezcal, Siete Blanco, Espolon Reposado and Maestro Dobel Anejo.

Cadillac Margarita to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
Date: April 28 to May 5
Time: Available Sunday through Thursday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and noon to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. 
Cost: $12
Description: The history of the margarita is hazy, but imbibers need not understand its origin story to appreciate its appeal. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, guests can enjoy a luxurious Cadillac Margarita made with Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier and lime juice.
