On Thursday, July 20, Minus5º ICEBAR celebrated its 3rd annual Christmas in July event at The LINQ Promenade with temperatures soaring over 110 degrees.
The destination’s outdoor patio transformed into a winter wonderland with a life-sized snowman built with real snow, Santa Claus dressed in his festive summer wardrobe, a live ice carving demonstration, live Christmas music by Troy Romzek, an appearance by Miss Nevada Taylor Blatchford, snow blowers and more.
Meanwhile, the inside of the ice attraction featured interactive Christmas-themed ice sculptures, a Christmas-inspired menu of chilly cocktails, festive décor and staff donning Santa hats and holiday attire.
About Minus5 ICEBAR
Minus5 ICEBAR is a unique and fascinating concept that combines a bar setting with an immersive frozen experience. Founded in New Zealand and now with locations in various cities around the world, Minus5 ICEBAR offers patrons an unforgettable adventure into a winter wonderland, even in the midst of scorching summer temperatures.
The concept is simple yet captivating. The entire bar, from the walls and seating to the sculptures and glassware, is constructed entirely from ice. The temperature inside is maintained at a bone-chilling minus five degrees Celsius (hence the name “Minus5”). Visitors are provided with insulated capes and gloves to keep warm while exploring the icy wonderland.
Upon entering Minus5 ICEBAR, guests are immediately transported to a frosty realm, adorned with meticulously crafted ice sculptures, intricate carvings, and stunning light displays. The sculptures vary depending on the location but often include icy representations of famous landmarks, wildlife, mythical creatures, and cultural icons.
The bar area itself is typically fashioned from a solid ice block, serving as the centerpiece of the venue. The expert mixologists at Minus5 ICEBAR are adept at crafting delightful cocktails and mocktails that add a touch of creativity to the frosty experience. The drinks are served in glasses made entirely of ice, making the experience even more extraordinary.
For safety reasons, visitors are limited in their time spent inside the ICEBAR to avoid overexposure to the extreme cold. However, this limitation only enhances the sense of novelty and keeps the experience fresh for each group of patrons.
What sets Minus5 ICEBAR apart is its ability to cater to a wide range of visitors. Whether it’s tourists looking for a fun and unconventional activity, locals seeking refuge from the summer heat, corporate groups looking for team-building experiences, or even private events and parties, Minus5 ICEBAR has something to offer to everyone.
In addition to its core ICEBAR attraction, Minus5 often expands its offerings to include other themed rooms or experiences, such as an ice lounge or an ice chapel for weddings. The ever-changing themes and sculptures keep patrons coming back for more, making each visit a unique adventure.
Minus5 ICEBAR is not just a drinking spot; it’s an encounter that leaves a lasting impression. It appeals to the adventurous spirit in all of us, providing an exhilarating escapade into a world of ice and imagination. As the only permanent ice bar experience in many cities, Minus5 continues to enchant and attract people from all walks of life, introducing them to the magic of a frozen wonderland right in the heart of their city.
