Kick-off Mother’s Day by running or leisurely walking a 5K, 10K or 1-Mile Sunflower Fairy Stroll through Vegas and the iconic Gilcrease Orchard just as their sunflower fields hit full bloom at the 3rd Annual Bee-utiful Sunflower Run on May 12, 2024.
Kids get a chance to make a free sunflower craft for mom, or someone special, while interacting with the sunflower fairies who live in the Orchard’s sunflower fields.
All participants receive a fresh-cut sunflower, sunflower medal, professional digital photos and other sunflower goodies. Fresh off his live performance playing at Blake Shelton’s private party at Ole Red Las Vegas, Jonny Hazard will play live throughout the event.
Importantly, Sunflower benefits two local non-profits; Gilcrease Orchard and Gigi’s Playhouse.
Organizers are proud to announce that Sunflower will be an audio-enhanced course experience, designed to create an informative community building experience for everyone, including the visually-impaired. Folks will pass several areas throughout the Orchard where short audio clips will provide fun Orchard facts for all to enjoy.

Why Sunflower Theme on Mother’s Day
Like sunflowers, mothers inspire and exude cheerfulness. As Hellen Keller famously said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflower does.” And as Keely Chace commented about mothers, “Of all the people who pour sunshine into our days, moms are the best.”
The event was moved to Mother’s Day for its second year in 2023 & instantaneously became a Mother’s Day tradition with the race selling out at 600 participants. This year the race can accommodate 800 walkers/runners.
In addition to supporting the non-profit Gilcrease Orchard, we are proud to announce this year’s secondary charity is Gigi’s Playhouse. Gigi’s mission is to change the way the world views Down Syndrome & send a global message of acceptance to all. Gigi’s is relatively new to the Vegas Valley and is in the process of bringing a brick & morter Playhouse to Southern Nevada. Beyond Limits Running is honored to make a $20,000 4-year pledge to help local Gigi’s leadership and board members in their quest to open a Gigi’s Playhouse for such a deserving community.
Honorary Race Starter to be named shortly.
Unique fact: Ed Robichaud, the blind runner who now heads the Achilles running guide group in Vegas and has been the lead consultant helping Beyond Limits develop their audio-enhanced courses, reached out to Gigi’s Playhouse with the simply idea of invited folks from the Down Syndrome community to attend Achilles twice a week group walks/runs.
