Summer Program Offers Solutions about What to Do with Kids for the Summer

Fun, affordable program, locations throughout valley from Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada

Parents often find themselves in a quandary about what to do with their children during the summer when they’re out of school. There are various childcare programs, overnight camps, and specialty camps, but their cost and duration – a few weeks or a few hours per day – don’t always solve the problem.

Known for its before and after school programs, the nonprofit Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada also offers a day-long Summer Program that combines the fun of “summer camp” with its mission for youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Registration is available until July 4 for the Summer Program, available at all 13 Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas through Friday, Aug. 5.

Annual membership is required to attend and is priced affordably at $35 for youth (ages 6-12) and just $20 for teens (ages 13-18). The Summer Program is competitively priced at $80 per week for kids (ages 6-12), and teens can attend for free with an annual membership.

Meals are included, both breakfast and lunch are served at select Clubs, and financial aid is available for qualifying families.

“Summer can be tough for working parents,” said Andy Bischel, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada president and CEO. “With extended operating hours, fun experiences, and unique opportunities for both kids and teens, Clubs are a perfect solution to knock out summer boredom, give kids the safe, supervised social outlets they need, and make summer stress-free for the family.” 

This year’s Summer Program is themed around “Road Trip Across America,” with activities and field trips designed for each age group to explore the culture, history, and language of various places around the country. Additional summer programming includes creative arts, health and fitness, leadership and education activities.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada summer hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
