Feeding the North Las Vegas Vaccination Clinic Workers (Firefighters, Police, Military, FEMA)
The Chef Jeff Project and Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada (NHSSN) teamed up on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 to provide food and snacks for the front-line workers staffing the COVD-19 vaccine clinic at Canyon Springs High School in North Las Vegas.
Brought together by North Las Vegas Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun, the Chef Jeff Project and NHSSN collaborated to feed the dedicated staff at Canyon Springs High School. This included the North Las Vegas Fire and Police Departments, Clark County School District nurses, military personnel, FEMA, and volunteers.
The Chef Jeff Project is an organization that creates opportunities for disenfranchised youth, formerly incarcerated individuals, and those seeking a second chance. Through master-class coaching, in-person and virtual culinary and hospitality training, as well as customized boot-camp experiences.
Since 1992 Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada (NHSSN) has provided affordable rental housing (152 units), down payment assistance programs for home purchase, pre-and post-purchase housing counseling and education, financial literacy, and foreclosure prevention counseling.
In addition, NHSSN acquires and rehabilitates properties for resale/rental to low-and-moderate income households. NHSSN was also one of the agencies that provided CHAP rental/mortgage assistance throughout Clark County through CARES Act funding. NHSSN is a local HUD-approved housing counseling agency.
