The American Lung Association in Nevada’s Popular Fight for Air Climb, Presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Nevada, Will Be Held Outdoors for the First Time at the Fabulous Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
Climbers will tackle approximately 650 stairs that make up the ballpark’s lower bowl, running or walking both up and down the stadium stairs – also a first! Masks are required, and climbers will be released from the starting line by assigned pod, one by one.
The Las Vegas Fight For Air Climb typically takes place inside the stairwell of The STRAT Tower but was reimagined for the pandemic as an outdoor stadium challenge for the safety of participants, volunteers, and staff. Those who cannot make it to the physical event are invited to “Climb Your Way” virtually.
“The American Lung Association is thrilled to announce that our popular Fight For Air Climb will safely take place outdoors at the iconic Las Vegas Ballpark in 2021,” said Shannon Proctor, executive director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “It is now more important than ever to end lung disease and support lung health. We climb to bring an end to COVID-19, lung cancer and lung disease, and ensure healthy air for all.”
“We are proud to support the outstanding work of the American Lung Association in Nevada and once again serve as the presenting sponsor for this year’s Fight for Air Climb,” said Mike Murphy, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nevada.
Money raised at the Fight For Air Climb will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and promote lung health, as well as the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research and collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests, and treatment therapies.
Registration is $35, plus a mandatory fundraising minimum of $100.
