News 3, The CW Las Vegas, and MyLVTV invite the community to help support Souper Bowl of Caring benefiting Serving Our Kids Foundation and help end childhood hunger in Las Vegas.
KSNV is proud to support Serving Our Kids Foundation, a 501 C-3 that provides a weekend meal bag to food-insecure kids in Southern Nevada.
There are approximately 128,000 food-insecure children under the age of 18 in Clark County. It is estimated that 37% of families are ineligible for Federal Nutrition programs.

About Serving Our Kids
Each week, Serving Our Kids feeds 4,000 kids in 100+ schools who would otherwise go hungry. These kids do not currently receive after-school or weekend food bags from any backpack program or other governmental programs, but still face empty plates after school and on the weekends.
Southern Nevada’s children don’t understand complex federal eligibility guidelines or the fancy terminology used to designate their eligibility for food.
They just know they are hungry.
Approximately 128,000 children in the Clark County School District meet the federal income-eligible definition of food insecure.
Other organizations do a tremendous job of focusing on the population who qualifies for nutrition assistance, but a need exists for those who do not qualify. And that gap continues to widen, with more and more kids going hungry every day.
Food insecurity – lacking access to “enough healthy food to thrive” – in American children affects more than 1 in 10 households. Food insecurity is even worse for children in households headed by single mothers (3 in 10) and those at or below the poverty line (almost 4 in 10).
Weekends are a scary time for hungry kids. There are thousands more children who need a weekend meal bag and the number continues to rise.
There are programs to provide children in need with breakfast and lunch on weekdays, but weekends can be an issue. Since 2012, Serving Our Kids has stepped in to fill the weekend nutritional needs of vulnerable kids.
Sadly, we currently have a waiting list of kids and families that need our services. With increased community support in the form of funding and resources, we can provide support to more children.
