Over 200 active firefighters, police, EMT and military personnel came together this morning to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, with a climb up 1,455 steps to the top of The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod’s 1,149-foot tower.
Climbing in full gear, each participant wore a lanyard with a photo of a fallen firefighter to represent the heroes whose lives were lost.
First responders from across the Las Vegas Valley participated in the climb, including Chad Paddock, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue peer fitness trainer and firefighter engineer; Jake Levesque, North Las Vegas Fire Department public information officer; and Mario Rueda, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue peer fitness trainer and firefighter engineer, among others.
Following the climb, participants, plus family and friends, were invited to raise a glass at PT’s Wings & Sports in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice 21 years ago.
Complimentary parking and valet are always available at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod.
