Memorial celebration coincides with National Purple Heart Day
The City of Henderson and Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 are hosting a memorial celebration to commemorate Purple Heart Day at Purple Heart Plaza in downtown Henderson on Monday, Aug. 8.
Mayor Debra March, City dignitaries and representatives of Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 will join the community to honor combat war veterans and all those who have served.
Celebrating its fourth anniversary, the Purple Heart Plaza was created to be a community gathering area in the heart of Henderson’s historic Downtown Water Street District.
The Plaza features the nationally recognized Purple Heart Monument and a donor brick program that allows the public to purchase engraved pavers to honor someone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
In January 2014, the City of Henderson became Nevada’s first Purple Heart city.
Purple Heart Plaza is open from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. For additional information, visit cityofhenderson.com.
