The Vegas and Nevada Rooms are proud to announce a new monthly residency of the sensational R&B vocal group, The Next Movement. The excitement begins at The Nevada Room Friday, February 4, and Saturday, February 5.
Formed in 1971 on Chicago’s South Side, the group’s original members—Cornell Haywood, Earl Shelby, and Samuel Thomas, Jr.—idolized the harmony groups of the 60s and 70s such as The Temptations, Jackson 5, The Dells, and The Chi-Lites. More than 50 years later, the group, including its band and its original members, is still going strong while singing the songs and dancing the moves they love best.
Having performed in Las Vegas in 1976 with comedy legend Redd Foxx at The Thunderbird, The Next Movement was also named by Oprah Winfrey as Best Vocal Group in Chicago. Following numerous Billboard hits, the group moved permanently to Las Vegas in 1995 and found a home in many of the showrooms and lounges throughout the city and across the U.S.
The Next Movement’s monthly residency at The Nevada Room is just the latest in a long list of credits for this multi-faceted and mega-talented group of musicians, bringing show-stopping music coupled with “smooth as glass” dance moves to a whole new audience of soon-to-be fans.
“My partner, Chef David James Robinson, and I fell in love with The Next Movement when they appeared twice at our venue as guests of the fabulous Michelle Marshall and the ever-popular Kelly Clinton back in November,” says Tom Michel, President of The Vegas and Nevada Rooms.
“People in the audience jumped to their feet following the sets, as the group’s tight vocals and fancy footwork once again proved that there is nothing that can top electrifying live musical entertainment. The delightful on-stage camaraderie of these three gentlemen who have performed together over the past 50 years will also make every experience with them so much fun. We greatly look forward to a long-term partnership with The Next Movement with the beginning of their monthly residency at The Nevada Room.”
“Cornell, Earl, and I are so excited about our upcoming residency at The Vegas and Nevada Rooms. After 50 years of performing together, we still love what we do. And, we’re still having fun transporting our audiences to a time when some of the best vocal groups of all time electrified their audiences with tight harmonies, smooth footwork, and some of the best songs that were ever written. Having a new home at the beautiful Nevada Room is the perfect place to showcase our group,” adds co-founding member Samuel.
As part of each exciting evening, the Nevada Room will offer a complete handcrafted a la carte menu with delicious food created by Executive Chef and Owner David James Robinson. Also featured is a very popular three-course prix fixe menu for $24.95, specialty cocktails, and an assortment of wine, beer, and spirits.
Tickets to The Next Movement at The Nevada Room are $20 per person. Also available are a very limited number of front row preferred seats for $25. Doors open for dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5, and the performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Reservations may be made by visiting The Vegas and Nevada Rooms’ website at VegasNevadaRooms.com/entertainment.
