LuvSeats LLC has added the expertise of New York City public relations industry leader Eric Yaverbaum, who has joined the company’s advisory council as the rollout of the LuvSeats app and its revolutionary 3rd Market pushes forward.
Yaverbaum — a seven-time best-selling author — quite literally wrote the book on public relations, co-authoring Public Relations For Dummies first and second editions (Wiley Books, 2001, 2007). In addition, he wrote New York Times Bestselling “I’ll Get Back to You (McGraw Hill, 1998), and Leadership Secrets of the World’s Most Successful CEOs (Dearborn, 2004), which sold over one million copies. Yaverbaum published and pioneered the first four social media magazines on digital communications, widely acclaimed for their rapid subscription base of 14 million combined.
“Eric brings support, expertise, relationships, social proof, and more,” said Darcy Silver, co-founder and CEO of LuvSeats.
In 1985, at the age of just 24, Yaverbaum co-founded Jericho Communications, and served as the company’s CEO until it was successfully sold. Shortly afterward, in 2007, he started Ericho Communications, a multi-faceted public relations agency with expertise in strategic media relations and media training.
Yaverbaum has worked with clients as diverse as SONY, IKEA, Vitamin Water, Progressive Insurance, Domino’s Pizza, H&M, and fitness guru Jack LaLanne, and has counseled clients such as Subway, TCBY, and American Express on brand building. His clients have seen placements in the Washington Post, The New York Times, and PR Week, as well as on The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and Good Morning America. Yaverbaum himself is a frequent contributor to the Washington Post and the Huffington Post, and he has made appearances on CBS This Morning, The Today Show, Larry King Live, and Fox and Friends.
Yaverbaum’s model: Lead with transparency. It was that philosophy that helped Yaverbaum guide his company through the COVID-19 pandemic, even as Yaverbaum himself suffered from a battle with the virus covered all over the world with a message of “hope”. Long before that, he helped develop the “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” campaign, inspired by his wife and caregivers at the time throughout the country, a campaign which helped push increased spending on stem cell research through the House.
While Yaverbaum’s career has been spent mastering communication and public relations, he got his start in sports as — like many LuvSeats users — a frustrated fan. In 1985, he organized Strike Back, a citizen’s action group founded to give frustrated baseball fans a forum to protest the impending Major League Baseball strike widely credited for ending that strike after one day.
“I chose to get involved with LuvSeats over a wide array of other companies who have asked the same simply because it’s crystal clear to me that there is a gaping hole in the market and desire for this kind of technology,” said Yaverbaum. “As a longtime sports fan — and also having worked inside of professional sports in some way, shape or form for almost forty years now — I knew intuitively that many of my long and deep relationships in the sports world would see the same. Absolutely thrilling for me to bring my experience to a star-studded group of advisors who no doubt sees the same.”
