On Wednesday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m., approximately 20 blind and low-vision campers from Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation (NBCF), ages pre-kindergarten through grade 12, will ride the rail bikes at Rail Explorers in Boulder City Nevada.
Following their rail-bike ride, the campers will take part in special, adapted tour of the historic trains of the Nevada State Railroad Museum, courtesy of the Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway.
“For many of the children, this visit will mark the first time they have been up close to or ridden a real train, and no one in our group has previously ridden on a rail bike, said Emily Smith, Chief Executive Officer, NBCF. “We’re all really excited about the outing!”
All rides start at the Nevada State Railroad Museum and continue downhill to Railroad Pass. Each tour also includes a nostalgic ride back to the top of the hill in one of the museum’s historic trains, along with free museum entry.
