January 18 to Now Be Recognized as “Golden Gate Day” in Honor of Iconic Downtown Las Vegas Hotel-Casino
Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas’ first hotel, celebrated 118 years of operations with a proclamation ceremony presided over by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. Operated by CEO Derek Stevens, Golden Gate has played a pivotal role in both the hospitality and gaming industries since opening its doors in 1906.

As a tribute to its profound impact on the city’s history, January 18 is now recognized as “Golden Gate Day”.
“It’s an honor to be one of the caretakers of the city’s oldest hotel,” said Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of Golden Gate. “In a town where we celebrate the future, with new developments, casino-resorts and businesses, sometimes it’s important to take a step back and think about where we came from and there’s no better place to do that than Golden Gate.”

Making its 1906 debut on One Fremont Street as Hotel Nevada, Golden Gate’s legacy spans the birth of Las Vegas, the Roaring 20s, the Rat Pack era and now the 21st century.
Golden Gate has become the pinnacle for vintage Vegas charm with the preservation of 10 of its rooms from the original incarnation of the property, as well as artifacts, memorabilia, slot machines and prohibition-era details from decades past.

Located at One Fremont Street on the world-famous Fremont Street Experience, Golden Gate claimed Las Vegas’ first official address and became a landmark as the city’s most historic hotel and casino.
Golden Gate has continued its vintage Vegas character by preserving ten of the rooms that opened with the property. The “Original 10” rooms welcomed ranchers, railroad men, singers, mobsters, vacationers and more and the rooms have become a part of Golden Gate’s deep roots. \
