Nevada, also known as the silver state, was not always the gaming and gambling empire that it is today. All the different casinos that you see and hear being talked about today are full of rich and interesting history that anybody would be very excited to learn about.

Officially there are 441 casinos in Nevada and the success of casinos is self-explanatory by the fact that in 2019 alone, gambling revenue was over $12 billion dollars. Out of 441 casinos in Nevada, there are four main casino areas: Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Laughlin.

When gambling in some of the biggest and best casinos in Nevada always avoid the following things:

  1. Free alcohol
  2. Loans
  3. The “can’t lose “attitude

First and foremost, always know that you as a guest will have a warm welcome with a cold drink, on the house.

The casino itself is done so lavishly, comfortably, and nicely with the best and kindest staff and that atmosphere subconsciously makes the person stay as long as possible.

Then consider that if you prove to be a player with big entries you will get more and more drinks at the expense of the house and it’s up to you to refuse it because it’s very important that you stay focused and with a clear mind as possible.

Next, if you gamble all the money you will be tempted to loan from others to continue gambling so never do that because the chances that you will leave the casinos with even more debt are tremendous.

Finally, always avoid the “I can’t lose” attitude because nothing good will come out of it.

First Casino in Nevada

Gambling was a part of Nevada’s rich culture way before it was ever legalized.

In the early 1800s men were gathering around at night after they finished the job and they would drink and play games and bet with money that they earned during the day. So they would get drunk and violate various laws from fighting to more serious ones.

Of course, the people in power did not like that there were things in which they did not have their hands involved. So, in 1860 governor of Nevada James Nye advocated banning gambling.

One year later, gambling was banned and anyone who got caught gambling was prosecuted and punished.

In 1869 penalties were a little bit reduced so you could play games but you weren’t allowed to operate the game.

By 1920 gambling had become very popular and in 1930 when the change in leadership happened new Governor Fred Balzar signed into law Assembly Bill 98 and gambling was officially legalized in 1931.

The first operating casino in Nevada was called the Railroad Pass.

Fast forward to today, where there are 441 casinos in Nevada, and it can get quite confusing when it comes to searching and picking the one.

Thanks to the technology, you can see the complete map of casinos in Nevada at Casinos.us and find the one you would like the best.

Biggest Las Vegas Casinos

For many people, the biggest association with Las Vegas is gambling, and rightfully so. Las Vegas has 51 casinos in total and it is home to the world’s most biggest and luxurious casinos.

Some of the biggest Las Vegas casinos are:

  1. MGM Grand
  2. Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
  3. Bellagio Hotel and Casino

If it’s your first time going to Las Vegas casino it can be pretty intimidating so you need to get acquainted with some rules and tips that can help you.  There are extravagant events and parties all the time, not even including gambling.

The first thing you should know is that some casinos offer you free lessons on some popular games so it will be best to take it and before you start playing you should watch the game on other players to see how it looks.

Next – don’t be afraid to ask dealers questions about the rules of the game. They are there for that very reason. One thing you shouldn’t do is ask them for advice on the hand played, as that is uncomfortable for both parties.

Finally, don’t be on the phone and don’t get drunk. It’s not cool, on the contrary, it’s very rude and you may find yourself in a very awkward situation and even get thrown out and banned from the casino.

Native American and Tribal Casinos

Out of 441 casinos in Nevada three of them are Native American:

  1. Avi Resort and Casino
  2. Moapa Travel Plaza
  3. Wa She Shu Casino

The first one is both the oldest and largest casino out of three. Fort Mojave Tribe is operating it and it has over 700 slot machines and 18 table games.

The second one is located near the foothills of Mount Charleston and has 100 slot machines. They have firework shows, tobacco, truckstop and a large selection of restaurants.

The last one is relatively new; it has over 120 slot machines and it opened in 2016 with the partnership of Poarch Creek Indians.
