Returning to the stage from “The Cocktail Cabaret” featuring musical virtuosity and humor brought to life by a small cast of power-house singers and original cast members are Niki Scalera (“Hairspray,” “Tarzan,” “Footloose”), Eric Jordan Young (“Rock of Ages,” “Vegas! The Show,” “Ragtime,” “CHICAGO,” “Seussical the Musical,” “Look of Love,” “Dreamgirls”), Maren Wade (“America’s Got Talent,” “Confessions of a Showgirl,” “Pin Up,” “50 Shades! The Parody”) with a special guest appearance by sensational new-comer James D. Gish (“Les Miserables,” “Beautiful, the Carol King Musical”).
The fantastic four-piece band is led by co-producer and renowned pianist Dr. Philip Fortenberry (“Behind the Candelabra”), drummer Mark Pardy (“The Lion King”), bassist Josh Jones (“Million Dollar Quartet”) and Saxophonist Eric Tewalt (“Celine”).
“We’ve created a knock-your-socks-off musical tour de force, so we’re more than excited to perform again in Las Vegas,” states Keith Thompson, director, arranger and co-producer of PK Entertainment. “Our original idea was to present a modern musical twist in a show reminiscent of ‘vintage Vegas,’ a time when the great and popular entertainment happened in the smaller venues on the Strip. It only seems appropriate that we would present the show at such an iconic vintage Vegas venue like the Italian American Club.”
Thompson added, “As we are looking to tour performing arts centers within the next year, we’re now expanding the show to a full 90-minute mainstage version that can play larger proscenium theaters nationwide, as well as more intimate cabaret venues for which the show was designed. We also hope to be back on the Las Vegas Strip once the pandemic is under control and it is safe for us to perform again and for audiences to fill the showrooms. Thanks to all of our fans, friends and colleagues for supporting us and believing in us.”
The audience can expect a variety of songs performed by the stellar talent: “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “Diamonds Are Forever,” “That’s Life,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” a cocktail medley, a tribute to the blues, along with brand new musical material being developed by Thompson to expand and enhance the Cabaret experience in anticipation of the upcoming national tour dates. Three of the show’s songs, including the title song, were written by Thompson.
Over the course of the show’s year-long run at Caesars Palace in 2018, “The Cocktail Cabaret” was honored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards, earning 2018’s Best Lounge Show (Silver) and Best Value Show (Bronze). Original cast member classical/pop singer Daniel Emmet made it all the way to the finals of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and Fortenberry completed two 14-city solo concert tours of China.
“The Cocktail Cabaret” is the first show in Las Vegas created and produced by PK Entertainment, an entertainment company founded by powerhouse musical team Keith Thompson (“Jersey Boys,” “Idaho! The Comedy-Musical” and “The Composers Showcase” at The Smith Center) and Dr. Philip Fortenberry, the critically acclaimed pianist who is a veteran of 10 Broadway shows, eight national tours (“Cats,” “Ragtime,” “The Lion King”), a concert headliner with his newest release, “Handful of Keys” and who was the Liberace hand/body double in HBO’s biopic, “Behind the Candelabra.”
