The Southern Nevada Building Trades Unions (SNBTU)
Assembly Bill 99 was introduced in the Nevada Assembly on February 8, 2021 by a majority of Republican Assembly members. As drafted, this bill is a direct attack on the working men and women in Nevada. Nevada’s Construction Workforce builds Nevada’s public buildings, highways, roads, churches, schools, and the very homes where we live. They often rise early in the morning to start their day and in weather that is unbearable to most. It is unconscionable that in session after session, State Legislative Republicans continue their attack on Nevada’s Working Families.
Assembly Bill 99 would severely impact the wages and apprenticeship opportunities for an already struggling and aging workforce in the Nevada Construction Trades. Republicans pay lip service in the pursuit of the support of the working men and women during their campaigns, and then they introduce legislation like AB99 that directly hurts them.
The SNBTU will continue to work with Legislative Leaders that support Nevada’s Working Families, and apprentice opportunities for Nevada’s Struggling Workforce.
