The students & staff at H.P. Fitzgerald ES received a special visit from Hospitality Culinaire Inc., Jamba Juice, and Chefs for Kids on January 26, 2023.
More than 400+ free healthy breakfasts were served including Breakfast Burritos with sausage, egg and cheese, and an Acai Bowl with strawberries, blueberries, and granola.
Each child also received a special chef’s hat and little “to-go” bag with snacks and a toy inside.
The special meal was part of the Chefs for Kids’ Cookin’ Up Breakfast initiative, of which Hospitality Culinaire Inc., which owns Jamba Juice inside Harry Reid International Airport, have been long-time partners. Typically at each breakfast they are on-site handing out free Jamba Juice smoothies, but once a year they take the reins and cook up a special breakfast of their own.
It started as a passion project of the late Michael Ty, but after his recent passing, the family is continuing his legacy of giving. The Ty family were all on-site serving up this healthy breakfast.
“Michael Ty was an incredible man who gave so much to the students we serve,” said Hekili Apao, Chairman of Chefs for Kids. “We’re incredibly grateful the family has decided to continue his legacy of giving and support for our organization.”
In total, 13 Title I schools will receive breakfast during the 2022/23 school year. Chefs for Kids is always seeking new culinary sponsors. Companies interested in learning more are encouraged to email donations@chefsforkids.org.
