There are a lot of mixed signals from the Las Vegas Raiders this season.
Some people believe their stats don’t show them in the best light, and others simply believe they are a bad team. Although the Raiders aren’t the best, there are a couple of treasures in the collections.
Before you start thinking about your NFL Draft Betting Odds, read through this year’s team profile.
Best Passing Player
Although Wide Receiver Mack Hollins has a passing percentage of 100% so far this season, he shouldn’t be seen as the best passing player. He has only attempted 1 pass which was completed successfully, so this 100% marker isn’t a real testament to his skill.
Quarterback Derek Carr, however, has attempted 434 passes, completing 3117 yards. Unfortunately, his total completion percentage is a measly 62%. This means only 269 of those passes landed as expected.
Derek Carr is the best passing player on the team, but his record isn’t great.
Best Rushing Player
When it comes to rushing, there is no player better than Running Back Josh Jacobs. He has played in 13 games so far, and from 269 attempts to rush, Jacobs has created 1402 yards. That’s 107.8 yards per game.
The Raider with the second-best score is Derek Carr with a feeble 88 yards in 21 rushes, which is 6.8 yards per game.
Josh Jacobs takes this title with ease!
Best Receiving Player
The data on the Las Vegas receiving players is a little complex. The player with the best target percentage is Brandon Bolden, with 9 receptions, but the player with the most receptions is Wide Receiver Davante Adams with 82. Unfortunately, his total target percentage is a laughable 57.7% with 1247 yards.
So where is the middle ground?
Perhaps the answer is Josh Jacobs. The Running Back has made 44 receptions with 52 targets, for a percentage of 84.6%. In that space, he made 346 yards. Jacobs has the second-highest target percentage on the team and the third-highest receptions.
In our opinion, he is the most consistent high-achieving receiver.
Best Defensive Player
The Las Vegas Raiders have been making a lot of defensive plays this season. Defensive End Maxx Crosby has made 11.5 sacks and 49 solo tackles. Linebacker Divine Deablo has made 36 assisted tackles and 74 tackles in general.
However, Cornerbacks Duron Harmon and Amik Robertson, along with Middle Linebacker Denzel Perryman are the only ones to intercept the ball.
Deablo and Crosby make a great defensive team, and as the season continues we hope to see more aggression from them.
Best Scoring Player
Just one player on the Las Vegas team has scored a field goal and that’s Kicker Daniel Carlson. He has 28 under his belt along with 26 extra points, Carlson has earned 110 points for the team.
The player with the most touchdowns, however, is Wide Receiver Davante Adams, with 12 to his name, shortly followed by Josh Jacobs with a similar 11.
Because Carlson has earned more points overall, we say that he is the best-scoring player on the team.
Best Punt Returns
Wide Receiver, Hunter Renfrow has the best punting average with 6.6 yards per game. However, he has had 5 punting returns for 33 yards.
Wide Receiver Keelan Cole, however, is only slightly behind Renfrow with 6.1 yards per game on average. However, he has had 13 punting returns for 79 yards.
Best Kickoff Returns
The player with the best kickoff return average is Running Back Brandon Bolden. However, he has only had 1 kickoff return of 32 yards, which has created his 32 averaging scores.
The player with the most yards is Running Back Ameer Abdullah with 17 kickoff returns totaling 357 yards. However, that total only brings an average of 20 yards per game.
Still, due to his consistency, we have to give the title of best kickoff return to Abdullah.
Best Kicking Player
We’ve said this before, but there is only one player on the Las Vegas Raiders who has successfully added to the kicking score total. Daniel Carlson. His field goal percentage is a strong 90.3% and his extra point percentage is 96.3%
Looking at the rest of the league, Carlson’s extra point percentage is on par, but his field goal percentage is over 25% higher.
Besting Punting Player
Lastly, the best punting player on the Las Vegas Raider is Punter A.J. Cole. He is the only player to make a mark this season so far, punting 2149 yards from 43 attempts for an average of 50 yards per game.
This is just slightly higher than the rest of the league, which is impressive as it lands on just one player’s shoulders.
Summary
Both Daniel Carlson and A.J. Cole are leading the team in their respective fields. Both are matching or beating their opponents at their particular skills of kicking and punting.
While the most rounded player on the team has to be Running Back Josh Jacobs. Jacobs is leading the team in receiving, scoring and rushing.
These are the three stars you should watch out for.
