Off-Broadway hit opens Nov. 17 at Notoriety’s Renkus-Heinz Theater, in downtown Las Vegas, bringing affordable irreverent fun for the holidays
The unconventional musical comedy “Christmas in Hell” arrives in Las Vegas for the upcoming 2022 holiday season!
The cast of the musical comedy thoroughly entertained their sold-out audiences during the show’s 24-performance run at the Off-Broadway York Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, and will now bring this fun twist on tired old Christmas shows to the Renkus-Heinz Theater, 450 E. Fremont Street, in Las Vegas.
The wild and surprisingly touching production centers around a father and son, exploring the absurd lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love. “I think Las Vegas is ready for a holiday show like this,” said book and show creator, Gary Apple.
“Christmas in Hell” takes place on Christmas Eve, when a young boy is mistakenly taken down to hell, instead of Charles Manson. When he returns, not only has he missed Christmas but he is devilishly changed.
To set things right, his father embarks on an extraordinary adventure that eventually leads him down to hell, where he makes a wager with Lucifer he can’t possibly win.
“The Off-Broadway production was terrific, but Las Vegas has a vibrancy like no other place on earth,” Apple added, “so I’ve adapted the material to tap into that uniquely wonderful energy. For the New York audience, I had to remove some of the most outrageous elements. But I’ve put them back in for this run. I think the Las Vegas crowd can handle it.”
“Christmas in Hell” earned a place in Time Out New York’s “Best Christmas Broadway Shows of 2018-2019.”
The show will debut at Notoriety in downtown Las Vegas beginning Nov. 17, 2022, with shows until January 15, 2023. Tickets start at only $51, less than half the price of most Strip shows.
