New Signs Create Iconic Entryway
Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear is celebrating two new monument signs marking the entrance to the Historic Westside at the U.S. 95 off-ramp at Martin L. King Boulevard.
The signs were commissioned by the city of Las Vegas and were designed by local West Las Vegas artist Harold Bradford & Associates. Las Vegas Paving and Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) are installing the signs, budgeted at $200,000 from the city’s general fund.
Video comments from Councilman Crear and Harold Bradford as well as footage of the new signs is available here, https://vimeo.com/user72503395/review/504587749/ea900ab864.
“These new signs will create another iconic reminder that one is entering the Historic Westside,” Councilman Cedric Crear said. “The signs are a part of Project Neon and I am excited for the community to see what Harold Bradford & Associates and YESCO have created.”
The sign on the north side (Northbound U.S. 95 off-ramp) will have a 4-foot-wide walking path extending from the nearby pedestrian ramp to the sign and allow people to take photos. The sign on the south side (southbound U.S. 95 off-ramp) is adjacent to the pedestrian walkway and will allow people to take photos.
